J31

Covers 50 square miles east of Sheffield, south or Rotherham and west of Worksop. Very informative and gives information on the places I knew when growing up. Oh, yes, I am still growing, but now, I'm growing out.

Picture Sheffield

Picture Sheffield, Sheffield Library, has 6,000 images of Sheffield 'as it was', with photos of the Sheffield flood in the 1870s, damage caused from bombing in WWII, and images of the City centre and suburbs through the years. A great way to relive the past.

VMRAQ

The state body of Marine Rescue in Queensland. The main part of this, in my hightly biased opinion, is Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport, based on the Broadwater, Gold Coast, Queensland. VMRAQ, as the State Body, meets, discusses and organises, while the 25 squadrons do all the actual rescue work. I seem to spend a little time at VMR Southport.

Chesterfield Canal Trust - Official Site

This is the body which has single-handedly browbeaten government agencies and others into a great job of revival of the Chesterfield Canal. It has recently had its latest 'victory' by safe-guarding the future of the Norwood Tunnel, and its biggest challenge coming up is the opening of the Tunnel, part of which collapsed in October 1907. This will be done by leaving a tunnel at each end of about 500 yards each, one of which, at the western end, passes underneath the M1, with the remainder opened up for fishing, wildlife and a marina. Great things to come. Well worth being a member, at £9 per annum, to show support.

Herbert Chapman, Arsenal Football Club

Arsenal F.C's greatest manager was local lad Herbert Chapman, born 19th January 1878, died 1934. He was born in Kiveton Park, played for local teams, later to manage Huddersfield Town in it's hey day, moving to make a struggling Arsenal F.C. into one of England's and the World's best known teams.
